A weekend retreat
Architect João Branco transformed farm buildings to create a weekend retreat for a family in Portugal’s Sierra de Janeanes district.
First glance I thought it’s very empty?! But then if you live in Portugal, and retreat to this holiday home all you need is a comfy bed, sofa, a great place to read, bask in the sun. Oh it helps to have Portugal (a holiday destination we all dream to go to) at your door step. So in this one instance: I don’t mind the spaces being empty! Still being true to materials and simplicity.
